Conflict resolution

Mediation is a structured, voluntary process for the constructive resolution of a conflict, in which independent, “impartial” third parties (mediators) support the parties in their conflict-resolution process. The parties to the conflict, also known as mediation participants, seek to reach a mutual agreement that reflects their needs and interests.

As a mediator, I work in accordance with the German Mediation Act, which guarantees independence and confidentiality.

Conflict situations that are often addressed through mediation include:

  • Conflicts between companies
  • Conflicts between individuals, both private and professional
  • Conflicts within groups and teams
  • Neighbourhood disputes
  • Family conflicts, e.g. in cases of inheritance or separation

Prevention

There are situations in which no conflict has (yet) arisen, but it can be helpful to bring the parties’ different positions together and find a shared perspective.

Situations suitable for such a process include the conflict contexts mentioned above, as well as:

  • Clarification when founding a company
  • Business succession
  • Establishing a shared flat
